[The clocktower is striking midnight, and Euri and Dog are sitting out on the front steps. In front of them is a decent-sized bonfire that's burning gold and red. Euri's watching it sullenly, sipping at some kind of drink in a large mug. Dog is sprawled over her lap like a lazy mutt.]

You know, this holiday is a lot more serious when you celebrate it with only a couple of people.

It's much more relaxing, though.

I guess.... [She scratches at his ears with her free hand.] You're pretty relaxed.

And you should cheer up.~ This time of the year isn't that bad.

Yeah. They're real sticks in the mud, they don't like people they can do things they can't, they don't like different people in general. I've almost been burnt at the stake a few times because of it.
