[The clocktower is striking midnight, and Euri and Dog are sitting out on the front steps. In front of them is a decent-sized bonfire that's burning gold and red. Euri's watching it sullenly, sipping at some kind of drink in a large mug. Dog is sprawled over her lap like a lazy mutt.]

You know, this holiday is a lot more serious when you celebrate it with only a couple of people.

It's much more relaxing, though.

It's complicated. The future isn't necessarily set in stone, it can shift and change like the tide, because people are bloody unpredictable most of the time. But there are some events that will go the same way no matter what someone tries to do to change it.
