MINGLING POST
[I hope that everyone in Accord has wish-machine'd up some sweaters, because it's getting cold outside! especially around the Tower, what with all those delightful ocean winds around to make things extra-chilly. it's not so bad indoors, though. the Stewards have been doing a good job of keeping the place nice and warm for you.
so what has the crazy tower bunch been up to? jumping in leaf piles? huddling inside for warmth? trying to break the world record for most cookies baked in a week? plotting to murder everyone with horrible death magic? there's plenty to be doing and plenty of people to bother, so go talk to your neighbors! make a friend, or talk to someone you haven't seen in a while! or just, you know, stumble awkwardly into their business. that works too.]
[[ooc: aw yeah, mingling post! make your own comment, tag other people's comments, go crazy!]]

But, hey, he's about to fix it, so...]
I have something for you. Are you in your room?
no subject
Why don't we meet somewhere? Lobby or, whatever?
no subject
That works just as well, I suppose. I'll be down in a minute, if you're around.
no subject
[Hah! Score for her! Except, she's going to have to leave the little nest she's made herself, and that means venturing out into the hallways, which are a mite bit cooler than her room. She'll be showing up, wearing a worn sweater that only Cosby would love, jeans, and workboots that have already seen their fair share of work.]
no subject
And he seems pretty proud of himself as he strolls into the lobby, head held high and already smirking]
no subject
Glad you could find me.
no subject
[and he stops a respectful distance away, then nods for her to step over]
Though, if you hadn't spoken up, you might never have gotten your present at all, and what a shame that would have been.

And he appreciates the quip--mostly because he's completely confident that she'll like what he has.
Holding it up by the shoulders, he shows off a wonderful red wool coat. It's fitted and modest, while having a cute little detail of faux-lacing up the back]

[But she wanted it. Now more than ever, she needed to feel that enveloping warmth. She reaches out to finger one of the sleeves, to feel how soft and thick it was.]
I ... why do I deserve this, again? [Her voice is quiet and hesitant, and she realizes as soon as the words are out just how pathetic it sounds.]
no subject
Because we'd agreed to it--I'd get you something nice to wear, if you managed to serve as a good partner for dinner conversation.
[whatever the terms of the exchange were, he still considered it some sort of transaction. No worries, this wasn't a completely benevolent gift.
So, he turns it around and holds it open, so she could try it on]

[She'd never owned anything so nice. She actually, after just the slightest moment of hesitation, turns her back to him in order to tuck her arms into the sleeves. She shivers slightly before it's fully on, less from the cold and more just having someone at her back, but as she feels the weight of it settle over her cold muscles, she relaxes slighly with a small sigh.]
Thank you.
no subject
Well, I had to do something with all this money I have lying around.
[which, is a total lie. He spends that shit as fast as he earns it]
no subject
I see you've been faring the weather alright?
no subject
[and then his gaze falls back to her, and the smugness returns to his smile]
...That looks good on you.
[congratulating himself on his choice of color for her; patting himself on the back for guessing her measurements]
no subject
Thank you. Who knows, maybe I'll eventually venture outside now that I have something decent against the cold.
no subject
[sounding as if this was the next point he was going to bring up anyway]
And now that you have something nice to wear out, I was wondering when you'd like to have dinner again.
no subject
[He'd put her in that awkward situation where any answer was going to put her owing him. The coat was nice enough that she felt it was worth more than their original deal, and so she felt she had to say yes, but then dinner itself wasn't something she could afford.]
[How on earth do you quantify conversation?]
I could be persuaded, I guess.
no subject
And her answer makes him laugh.]
The promise of good food and my wonderful company isn't enough?
no subject
[She's joking, but there is a tiny thread of truth in there. He hadn't really been out since the weather dropped.]
no subject
[because he's so considerate]
no subject
[Fuck it, she's hungry.]
no subject
[a teasing kind of smile. it's almost smug.]
When would you like to go?
no subject
Give me a few minutes to change, and we can go?
[Since she had a nicer pair of pants that would look better with this coat than the pair she had on currently.]
no subject
Certainly. I'll meet you back down here whenever you're ready.
[since he'd sneakily already dressed up enough for a trip into town, just in case]
