[I hope that everyone in Accord has wish-machine'd up some sweaters, because it's getting cold outside! especially around the Tower, what with all those delightful ocean winds around to make things extra-chilly. it's not so bad indoors, though. the Stewards have been doing a good job of keeping the place nice and warm for you.

so what has the crazy tower bunch been up to? jumping in leaf piles? huddling inside for warmth? trying to break the world record for most cookies baked in a week? plotting to murder everyone with horrible death magic? there's plenty to be doing and plenty of people to bother, so go talk to your neighbors! make a friend, or talk to someone you haven't seen in a while! or just, you know, stumble awkwardly into their business. that works too.]

[when his feet touch the ground, a number of things happen.

the first of which is that a shrill whining noise starts up and does not stop until he's finished freaking out.

the second of which is that he suddenly transforms into several animals in the span of a few seconds, including a peacock, a baby brown bear on its hind legs, and a rather uncoordinated pile of fish.

when he reforms, the horrible noise dies down and he stands there, feet buried in snow, hugging himself like he's worried his lungs are going to fall out.]

M-M-Monster is c-coooooold! Monster doesn't like snow!

[...well that's dramatic. She frowns, but it couldn't be because she feels bad for making him freak out. Of course not.]

Well, that's what you get for not wearing shoes, idiot.

[ugh... she kind of just... picks him straight up by his shoulders, just enough that his feet are out of the snow. Like she's trying to figure out what to do with him now]

[he kicks his feet a little when he's lifted up, but otherwise might as well be a sack of potatoes.]

M-Monster doesn't like shoes.

[don't judge him.]

...mrmmrmmmhm, Tabby Mom?

[ugh... she winces at the name. Since when was it okay for him to call her that, again?

and, ugh, is she really going to keep holding him like this? this is all kinds of uncomfortable]

...What is snow? Monster doesn't know.

[wiggle wiggle :<]

It's stuff that kids are supposed to fuckin' love. It's fun.

[which, she could maybe show him if she puts him down. And she really just wants to put him down in general. But he's going to shriek again, and that shit gives her a headache. So, after looking down for a minute and thinking really hard about it, she steps off her own shoes and nudges them around to sit on the snow in front of her.

Her bare feet sink into the snow now, but that doesn't seem to bother her so much. Once her shoes are in place, she kind of... lowers Monster's feet into them. They're too big and probably already kind of cold and wet since they're not cut out for snow, but maybe it'll keep him from whining so loud in her head]

...There.

[he opens his mouth a little and makes this uncomfortable creaking noise... but that fades off when he shuts his mouth again.

he's looking down at his feet.]

...Tabby shoes.

Yeah, so no more whining, got it?

[she takes a step back, kind of making sure that he's remaining upright and standing on his own. She doesn't want him wobbling over and hanging on her or snagging her with tentacles or anything else weird.]

Now look. Snow is fun. [she gives some of it a pretty good kick, sending a flurry splattering off to the side]

You can make snowmen and build snow forts and shit. [reaching down to scoop up a handful and pack it up into a little snowball]

[he watches this happen with mild concern, but seeing as the stuff just sloshes uselessly around, he eventually crouches down in Tabby's giant shoes and starts poking at it himself.

and he starts making those thinking noises, the buzzing and humming.]

[while she tosses the snowball into the air and catches it a couple times, she watches him hum and buzz and think way too much about this.

...Eventually, she loses her patience and steps over, crouches down in front of him... and takes both of his hands and squishes them into the snow, making handprints and then smashing snow into a shape between them]

See, it's like clay. But cold.

...ding!

[and it's very difficult to tell if he telepathically said the word "ding" very, very well, or if his brain actually made a real dinging sound. either way, some neurons must have connected, since he starts squishing the snow together between his hands himself.]

Mm, Monster knows what clay is.

There. Good.

[she straightens up and quietly hopes that squishing snow around will help clean off his hands. ...That's probably going to be the grossest snowball around.]

You can make snowmen, snowballs, snow forts, snow... uh...

[wait, there was another one. Hang on, it's been a while]

...Oh, snow angels. Snow anything, I guess.

[yeah, as soon as his fingers start numbing up, he doesn't even notice the stinging. he starts constructing a lump of... something. and it is definitely going to get his hands clean.]

Men of snow... Mmrm...

[aaaand then he picks it up and eats it.

...well, he takes the part of it that doesn't crumble back down onto the ground and drops that in his horrible gaping hole of a mouth.]

[as much as she likes blood, watching him eat rust-colored snow is pretty stomach-turning]

And that was your first snowcone. ...Gross.

[he... makes a bit of a face. he was expecting more flavor.]

It's water...?

Yeah, like ice. ...Sort of.

[and now she's fighting the urge to just shove him into the snow and whitewash him to finish cleaning him off.]

[...he giggles.]

Monster knows ice. Ice isn't scary, unless it grows into sharp things.

You've obviously never fallen into a frozen lake, then.

[oh, but that's totally not the point. trying to not freak him out, here.]

--Oh, and there's snowball fights, too. [innocently scooping up another handful of snow now]

[Monster DOES make an uncomfortable sound, but it's not because he's scared so much as it is that he had a reeeeally horrible father figure.]

Are they nice fights? Monster does not like mean ones.

[she throws the snowball at him, to demonstrate.

...but it really is the most pathetic throw she can possibly manage. She's going for a harmless pff! of snow hitting his chest, here.]

[and it does harmlessly go pff. he looks very surprised that it did so, sweeping the cold ice away from his shirt.]

...What has good hands for throwing? Monster's fingers will fall off.

...Bears?

[they kind of have hands, right? ...or something.

...it's really just because he was a bear before.]

[Monster at least knows what a bear is, so that's close enough for him! and then poof, he's a bear. a cute little brown bear with a red collar and a confused look, standing very much outside of Tabby's shoes.

he lifts all his feet up, one at a time, awkwardly trying to get used to this crazy snow thing.]

You're furry. Stop that.

[man up, dude. ...and, now that he's something that looks arguably less pathetic than a skinny, bleedy little kid, she stoops again. Repeating the earlier steps, she scoops up snow, packs it into a shoddy snowball shape, and tosses it at... what is now a small bear]

[when the snow hits him, he crunches up in surprise--but ends up rolling back up onto his back and wiggling his little bear arms around a little. he rolls back up fast, though! and trundles over towards Tabby to go bump into her leg. C:]
