[I hope that everyone in Accord has wish-machine'd up some sweaters, because it's getting cold outside! especially around the Tower, what with all those delightful ocean winds around to make things extra-chilly. it's not so bad indoors, though. the Stewards have been doing a good job of keeping the place nice and warm for you.

so what has the crazy tower bunch been up to? jumping in leaf piles? huddling inside for warmth? trying to break the world record for most cookies baked in a week? plotting to murder everyone with horrible death magic? there's plenty to be doing and plenty of people to bother, so go talk to your neighbors! make a friend, or talk to someone you haven't seen in a while! or just, you know, stumble awkwardly into their business. that works too.]

[She's already buttoned up the coat and slid her hands in her own pockets, eager to eat up the warmth, and gives him a perplexed expression at the compliment. She was still trying to figure out if he was being genuine or self-serving, but she was leaning towards the latter.]

Thank you. Who knows, maybe I'll eventually venture outside now that I have something decent against the cold.

Good. Because I'm terribly bored.

[sounding as if this was the next point he was going to bring up anyway]

And now that you have something nice to wear out, I was wondering when you'd like to have dinner again.

[She doesn't reply immediately, still worrying between the thought of warm food and the desire to remain independent and un-indebted to anyone.]

[He'd put her in that awkward situation where any answer was going to put her owing him. The coat was nice enough that she felt it was worth more than their original deal, and so she felt she had to say yes, but then dinner itself wasn't something she could afford.]

[How on earth do you quantify conversation?]

I could be persuaded, I guess.

[and this, of course, is exactly the sort of interesting position he'd hoped to put her in. He was curious to see what she'd do with it.

And her answer makes him laugh.]

The promise of good food and my wonderful company isn't enough?

Let's just say I haven't been out recently; I need to let the shock subside first.

[She's joking, but there is a tiny thread of truth in there. He hadn't really been out since the weather dropped.]

[She hesitates. If she said anything too much later, she'd lose her nerve.]

Give me a few minutes to change, and we can go?

[Since she had a nicer pair of pants that would look better with this coat than the pair she had on currently.]

[oh yeah, now he looks smug. He can't help it. He's proud of himself.]

[since he'd sneakily already dressed up enough for a trip into town, just in case]

[She's collected a couple nicer pieces since she's been here, although nothing quite as nice as what Tek's wearing. Still, she cleans up well enough in black slacks, and a black sweater under the coat.]
