[on this fine day, Monster has decided to play with all of the toys he's been gathering up! his door is wiiiide open, though some of his things have been dragged out into the hallway. a teddy bear with a missing limb, a roller skate, some books that have various levels of bloody little fingerprint smears on them.
Monster himself is humming (telepathically, of course) in his room. surrounded by all the bizarre, nostalgic things he's collected up, his main focus seems to be on disassembling an old tricycle. shape-shifting his fingers to undo bolts and playing around with all the individual parts. this is probably not how you use a tricycle.

And frown.]
...The hell are you doing?
no subject
Monster is playing!
no subject
...You're doing it wrong.
no subject
[he looks at the dismantled bike pieces, picks up the bike chain...]
But Monster made it into nice pieces!
no subject
It's not supposed to be in nice pieces. That's one of those things that you're supposed to play with while it's in one piece.
no subject
[no it wasn't. Monster just fails to understand the basic fundamental rules of a bike.]
no subject
No, it wasn't. It was just the right size.
[wandering on closer]
You know, I even made sure that piece of shit worked before I gave it to you?
no subject
[Monster still isn't sure what the problem is... but you can see him slowly realize that he's done something bad, frowning and shrinking into himself a little.]
Is Monster in trouble...? He didn't mean it...
no subject
Did you even ride it once before you started dismantling it?
no subject
[more confusion. he sticks his finger in his mouth for a moment or two before he suddenly straightens up.]
Monster will fix it.
no subject
[this oughta be good.]
no subject
[he starts pointing at his little piles, trying to remember... and he eventually picks out a little metal part and--pops it in his mouth! and then he picks up the chain and balls that up and tosses that into his mouth, and then the gear, then a couple other metal parts...
and then he falls over, rolls around on the ground a little bit, sits up, and reaches back into his mouth like he's got something stuck in his teeth.
horrifyingly, he pulls out the fully assembled gear and chain parts. he's like a magician's hat, man.]
...Mm, Monster needs to be bigger. The bike was really big.
no subject
ugh, she makes such a face.]
How did... but aren't you...
[...nope. nevermind. she's pretty sure she doesn't want to know.]
no subject
Monster has to think smarter. What's really big...?
no subject
crossing her arms, propping her chin, ready to see where the hell this is going.]
no subject
[and then Monster turns into a giant snail. because that makes a ton of sense! he'll just start snailing his way over all of the piles of things so that he can absorb them, because that's totally and undeniably how snails work.]
Tabby Mom should get the round one that rolled away!
no subject
too busy staring at the GIANT SNAIL to go get the round one that rolled away.
of all the big things he could have turned into, a SNAIL was probably one of the last things she would have expected.]
no subject
you know.
a snail.
take your time.]
no subject
yeah.
after a minute or several of staring, wondering at what sort of stupid travesty her unlife has become... she wordlessly wanders out into the hallway and retrieves the wheel for him.
there you go, snailbuddy.]
no subject
[he'll slowly... make his way over so that he can absorb the wheel too.]

no subject
so, down she flutters, until she's suddenly girl-shaped again and plopping down to sit where he indicated!]
no subject
Her wings are all old. She looks tired.
[confused look!] Is Moth Girl sick?
no subject
She doesn't think about it for very long however, before her attention moves to him. And his bloody face.
Why is he still salty and bleeding? Doesn't that ever stop?]
no subject
Oh, Monster tries, but his face just keeps getting all red.
no subject
stick out her skinny little tongue and taste his face.]
no subject
[that feels so weird!]
What does Monster taste like?
no subject
He tastes like salt. And minerals. Iron. Blood. And things like dirt, of course.]
no subject
[...giggle. giggle giggle giggle, wiggling his feet.]
no subject
And she flutters her wings in response to his wiggling. It just seems like the thing to do, though she doesn't know why he was wiggling in the first place, or why he stopped]
no subject
[he reaches over and holds up the big spiky gear towards her.]
What does this thing taste like?
no subject
She tastes it anyway, first with waving antennae, and then with her tongue.
...Annnnd then, after a moment for it to really sink in, she makes a face.
It tastes like minerals, but the actual metal kind, and dirt and gross and lots like nasty gear grease]
no subject
That does not sound good. Monster hopes his face tastes better.
no subject
Which makes her wonder why he had her taste it. Which makes her wonder why he has those metal things in the first place]
no subject
[but he looks down at his piles of metal things, and holds up a smaller connecting piece so that she can see.]
Tabby Mom gave Monster a toy, but it was too big...! So he made it smaller.
no subject
this is all--even just thinking about it--is only making her more hungry for good minerals and sweet things. She can still taste all the gross.]
no subject
[he opens his mouth to show her the empty black abyss inside. that's his reasoning okok.]
no subject
How weird. She'd really thought that things like him usually have tongues.]
no subject
[he closes his mouth again. :I]
